“I Am Afraid…”

Blessings folk!

Is there fear in your life?
Many professing believers are consumed with fear...with anxiety.
There is but One that we are to fear.
We are not to fear the evil one.
We are not to fear man.
We are not to fear circumstance.
We are to fear the Most High God.

The Psalmist reveals why.

Psalm 119:118-120
118 You spurn all who go astray from your statutes,
for their cunning is in vain.
119 All the wicked of the earth you discard like dross,
    therefore I love your testimonies.
120 My flesh trembles for fear of you,
and I am afraid of your judgments.

The Psalmist states that his flesh trembles for fear of the Lord.
He feared His judgments.

But, the Psalmist has repeatedly stated that he loves the testimonies, commandments, precepts, statutes, law, instruction, et. al. of the Lord.

Verse 19 states that “therefore I love Your testimonies.”
Therefore?

“Therefore” = considering what has been said…

The Lord spurns all who go astray from His statutes.
The Lord discards the wicked of the earth like dross.

Remember, the Psalmist was undergoing persecution from the wicked.
He rested in the Lord.
He reminded himself in a multitude of ways that it is the Word of the Lord that brings strength, understanding, peace, joy…
May we remember.
May we live so.
