Heb 11:17
By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac,
and he who had received the promises was offering up his only begotten son;

Let’s begin to look at the account…Genesis 22.

Gen 22:1
Now it came about after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him,
“Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”

After these things…the Hagar/Ishmael removal and an incident with Abimelech (which we have not examined…maybe later).

God tested Abraham.
“Tested” means “to test, try, prove, tempt, assay, put to the proof or test”.

God will test.
God will prove.

God will not “tempt” as in “tempting to sin”…

Jas 1:13
Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”;
for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.

Abraham was being tempted by God “to prove”.

We will see.

There is process in what God was doing.

He called.
Abraham answered.

Abraham “passed” the “test”.
He answered the call of God.
