1 Th 2:13

For this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe.

Paul thanked God constantly for their receiving of the Word of God.

Remember what Paul had said earlier.
They had not come in word only, but in power, the Holy Spirit and in full conviction.

Because of this, the people believed the word!

They received the word as “not of men”, but for what it really was/is - the Word of God.

How did they know?

First, they saw and experienced the power of God.
They saw the works of the Holy Spirit.
They saw men who believed and were fully convicted of belief.

Second, the Word performed work in those who believed.
They were changed.
They were transformed.
