1 Th 1:2-5

We give thanks to God always for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers;

constantly bearing in mind your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of our God and Father,

knowing, brethren beloved by God, His choice of you;

for our gospel did not come to you in word only,
but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction;
just as you know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.

Paul and friends brought the gospel to the Thessalonians.

Did you note “how”?

This is so important for us.
This is so needed by us.

They did not bring the gospel in “word only”.

They spoke the Word of the gospel, yet there was more.

They came in power!
They came in the Holy Spirit!
They came with full conviction!
They proved by their life the gospel they proclaimed.

This is what the western church needs today.
Word!
Power!
Holy Spirit!
Conviction!
Proof

Let us repent of the powerless gospel that we have lived and proclaimed.
Choose to allow the power of God to move through you.
