“Before the Ark Continually…”

Blessings folk!

The Ark of the Covenant was in the City of David in a tent built by David.

Michal was snarky in her “offense” over her husband David’s behavior.
She would be barren due to her belittling of her husband’s worship.

David did not care.
He would worship before the Lord and his people.

A little more detailed mentioned earlier…

1 Ch 16:1-6

And they brought in the ark of God and placed it inside the tent which David had pitched for it, and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.

When David had finished offering the burnt offering and the peace offerings,
he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.

He distributed to everyone of Israel, both man and woman,
to everyone a loaf of bread and a portion of meat and a raisin cake.

He appointed some of the Levites as ministers before the ark of the LORD,
even to celebrate and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:

Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom and Jeiel, with musical instruments, harps, lyres;
also Asaph played loud-sounding cymbals,

and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests blew trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.

David appointed the Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord.
They were to celebrate.
They were to give thanks and praise to the Lord God of Israel.
They were to do so with musical instruments…loud ones!
They are to do so continually.

1 Ch 16:37

So he left Asaph and his relatives there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD to minister before the ark continually, as every day’s work required;

It was their daily work to continually worship before the Lord.

But what of the The Tabernacle - the one God told Moses and the people to build?

1Ch 16:39-40

He left Zadok the priest and his relatives the priests before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place which was at Gibeon,

to offer burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar of burnt offering continually morning and evening, even according to all that is written in the law of the LORD, which He commanded Israel.

The Tabernacle of the Lord was in another place.
In Gibeon.
Zadok and the priests offered burnt offering on the altar of burn offerings.
They did so continually, according to the written law of the Lord.

So, you have the Law still being adhered to without the Ark.
Without the Presence of God.
The Tabernacle of Moses.

And you have David and the Levites worshipping before the Ark/Lord continually…not just one day a year…without the sacrificial system.
The Tabernacle of David.

Amazing.

A vivid picture of the church today.

Most go about the rote religious assignments and offerings of religion.
Fewer continually worship before the Lord.

I know where I want to be.
