March 31, 2019

“Tree By the River”

Blessings folk!

Fruit!

The Word says much about it.

This is a really interesting passage.

Do not “worry about” trying to “understand it all”.

Just read.

Give close attention to the situation and action.

Watch for the fruit.

Eze 47:1-12

Then he brought me back to the door of the house; and behold, water was flowing from under the threshold of the house toward the east, for the house faced east. And the water was flowing down from under, from the right side of the house, from south of the altar.

He brought me out by way of the north gate and led me around on the outside to the outer gate by way of the gate that faces east. And behold, water was trickling from the south side.

When the man went out toward the east with a line in his hand, he measured a thousand cubits, and he led me through the water, water reaching the ankles.

Again he measured a thousand and led me through the water, water reaching the knees.
Again he measured a thousand and led me through the water, water reaching the loins.

Again he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not ford, for the water had risen, enough water to swim in, a river that could not be forded.

He said to me, “Son of man, have you seen this?”
Then he brought me back to the bank of the river.

Now when I had returned, behold,
on the bank of the river there were very many trees on the one side and on the other.

Then he said to me,
“These waters go out toward the eastern region and go down into the Arabah; then they go toward the sea, being made to flow into the sea, and the waters of the sea become fresh.

“It will come about that every living creature which swarms in every place where the river goes, will live. And there will be very many fish, for these waters go there and the others become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes.

“And it will come about that fishermen will stand beside it;
from Engedi to Eneglaim there will be a place for the spreading of nets.
Their fish will be according to their kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea, very many.

“But its swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt.

“By the river on its bank, on one side and on the other, will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither and their fruit will not fail. They will bear every month because their water flows from the sanctuary, and their fruit will be for food and their leaves for healing.”

“It will come about…”.
Yet to come.
Still.
In the future.
Trees will bear every month because their water flows from the sanctuary.
Wow!
The fruit of the trees will be for food.
The leaves of the tress for healing.

Now, read this…

Rev 22:1-2

Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb,

in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Hummm….

“Mountains”

March 30, 2019

“Mountains”

Blessings folk!

In several places in the Scripture the Lord prophesies to the land…to the actual ground.

Here is a passage where He prophesies to the mountains related to the fruit that they will bear.

Eze 36:7-12

“Therefore thus says the Lord GOD,
‘I have sworn that surely the nations which are around you will themselves endure their insults.

‘But you, O mountains of Israel, you will put forth your branches and bear your fruit for My people Israel; for they will soon come.

‘For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn to you, and you will be cultivated and sown.

‘I will multiply men on you, all the house of Israel, all of it;
and the cities will be inhabited and the waste places will be rebuilt.

‘I will multiply on you man and beast; and they will increase and be fruitful;
and I will cause you to be inhabited as you were formerly and will treat you better than at the first. Thus you will know that I am the LORD.

‘Yes, I will cause men—My people Israel—to walk on you and possess you, so that you will become their inheritance and never again bereave them of children.’

The Lord declares that the the nations themselves will endure the insults that they have hurled against Israel and her land.

The Lord then declares a Word to the mountains of Israel…

  • They shall put forth their branches and bear fruit for God’s people, Israel
  • The people will come soon
  • The men will be multiplied
  • Cities inhabited
  • Waste places rebuilt
  • Multiplication
  • Increase
  • Fruitfulness
  • The Lord will cause the mountains to be inhabited with more…better than before…His people Israel…walk on them, possess them
  • Thus they…mountains? people?…will know that He is Lord
  • The mountains will be an inheritance and will not bereave them of children

We see this occurring today.
In the lifetime of many of us.

The Word of the Lord is being fulfilled.
It has only begun!

“…According to the Fruit of His Deeds…”

March 29, 2018

“…According to the Fruit of His Deeds…”

Blessings folk!

Jeremiah breaks forth in praise in prayer unto the Lord.

Note what we learn of the Lord.
Note “fruit”…

Jer 32:16-19

“After I had given the deed of purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah,
then I prayed to the LORD, saying,

‘Ah Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You,

who shows lovingkindness to thousands, but repays the iniquity of fathers into the bosom of their children after them, O great and mighty God. The LORD of hosts is His name;

great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men, giving to everyone according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds;

Lord God:

  • Made the heavens and the earth
    • By His great power
    • By His outstretched arm
  • Nothing is too difficult for the Lord
  • Shows lovingkindness to thousands
  • Repays iniquity of fathers into the bosom of their children after them…our iniquity strikes at the heart of our children
  • Great
  • Mighty
  • Named Lord of Hosts…of all
  • Great in counsel
  • Mighty in deed
  • Eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men
  • Gives to everyone according to his ways
  • Gives to everyone according to the fruit of his deeds

Jeremiah says more…as we will see.

For today, be reminded of Who the Lord is.

Be right before Him.

“The Cursed. The Blessed”

March 28, 2019

“The Cursed. The Blessed”

Blessings folk!

Fruit.
We all produce it.
Evil.
Righteous.

Give ear to what the Lord says through the prophet Jeremiah.

Jer 17:5-8

Thus says the LORD,
“Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind
And makes flesh his strength,
And whose heart turns away from the LORD.

“For he will be like a bush in the desert
And will not see when prosperity comes,
But will live in stony wastes in the wilderness,
A land of salt without inhabitant.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD
And whose trust is the LORD.

“For he will be like a tree planted by the water,
That extends its roots by a stream
And will not fear when the heat comes;
But its leaves will be green,
And it will not be anxious in a year of drought
Nor cease to yield fruit.

The Cursed Man:

  • Trusts in mankind
  • Makes flesh his strength
  • Turns his heart away from the Lord
  • Will be like a bush in the desert
  • Will not see when prosperity comes
  • Will live in stony wastes in the wilderness

The Blessed Man:
  • Trusts in the Lord
  • Trust is the Lord…there is a distinction. Think.
  • Will be like a tree planted by water
  • Will extend roots by stream
  • Will not fear when heat comes
  • Will bear green leaves
  • Will not be anxious in time of drought
  • Will not cease to bear fruit

Which are you?

Trust the Lord.
Bear His fruit.
Be Blessed.

“Ancient Paths”

March 27, 2019

“Ancient Paths”

Blessings folk!

Fruit.
It can be good.
It can be bad.

Read this passage closely.

It speaks of fruit.
More importantly, it contains a Word that has been resonating deep within many of the Body of Christ…

Jer 6:16-19

Thus says the LORD,
“Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths,
Where the good way is, and walk in it;
And you will find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

“And I set watchmen over you, saying,
‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’
But they said, ‘We will not listen.’

“Therefore hear, O nations,
And know, O congregation, what is among them.

“Hear, O earth: behold, I am bringing disaster on this people,
The fruit of their plans,
Because they have not listened to My words,
And as for My law, they have rejected it also.

The people refused the way of the Lord
They would not walk in it.
They would not listen.
Therefore, the Lord would bring disaster on them…the fruit of their plans.

Reject the Lord.
You will receive the fruit thereof.

The “resonating Word”?
I believe the Lord want us to seek and ask for the ancient paths.
The good way.
That is what we are to walk in,

We walk the ancient path in/through the Lord Jesus.

This is missing in most of the professing church in the western world.

Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths.
There will rest by found for our souls.

Be not foolish as the world and the religionist who reject.

Walk.
Listen.
Seek.
Ask.

“Fruit of Salvation"

March 26, 2019

“Fruit of Salvation"

Blessings folk!

Chasing a particular word through Scripture often brings forth interesting insights and understanding.

We have been looking at “fruit”.

Read about fruit…

Isa 45:8

“Drip down, O heavens, from above,
And let the clouds pour down righteousness;
Let the earth open up and salvation bear fruit,
And righteousness spring up with it.
I, the LORD, have created it.

Well, that is encouraging.
Righteousness being poured forth from heaven.
The earth receiving righteousness.
Salvation bearing the fruit thereof.
The Lord has created and done it.

Wonderful!
Exciting!

But, what is the context?
What is being said/addressed?

Read the fuller context.

Let me explain at the beginning.

The Lord is prophesying through Isaiah of one who will be named Cyrus…some 150 years before Cyrus’ time!

He would be anointed of the Lord.

Read what Cyrus would do.

Note what we learn about the Lord.

Isa 45:1

Thus says the LORD to Cyrus His anointed,
Whom I have taken by the right hand,
To subdue nations before him
And to loose the loins of kings;
To open doors before him so that gates will not be shut:

“I will go before you and make the rough places smooth;
I will shatter the doors of bronze and cut through their iron bars.

“I will give you the treasures of darkness
And hidden wealth of secret places,
So that you may know that it is I,
The LORD, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name.

“For the sake of Jacob My servant,
And Israel My chosen one,
I have also called you by your name;
I have given you a title of honor
Though you have not known Me.

“I am the LORD, and there is no other;
Besides Me there is no God.
I will gird you, though you have not known Me;

That men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun
That there is no one besides Me.
I am the LORD, and there is no other,

The One forming light and creating darkness,
Causing well-being and creating calamity;
I am the LORD who does all these.

“Drip down, O heavens, from above,
And let the clouds pour down righteousness;
Let the earth open up and salvation bear fruit,
And righteousness spring up with it.
I, the LORD, have created it.

The Lord would guide Cyrus, even though Cyrus did not know Him.
He would guide him by the hand.
He would subdue nations.
Cyrus would be given the treasures of darkness, the hidden wealth of secret place.
Hummm…
So, that he would know that God is the Lord of Israel.

The Lord is doing this for the sake of His servant/chosen one Israel.

Cyrus would be the king that would release the children of Israel from their captivity in Babylon.

What did we see of God?

We will look closer the next time…

“Fill the Whole World With Fruit”

March 25, 2019

“Fill the Whole World With Fruit”

Blessings folk!

Continuing from yesterday’s thought.

Days are to come when the fruit of righteousness will fill the earth.

Isa 27:1-6

In that day the LORD will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent,
With His fierce and great and mighty sword,
Even Leviathan the twisted serpent;
And He will kill the dragon who lives in the sea.

In that day,
“A vineyard of wine, sing of it!

“I, the LORD, am its keeper;
I water it every moment.
So that no one will damage it,
I guard it night and day.

“I have no wrath.
Should someone give Me briars and thorns in battle,
Then I would step on them, I would burn them completely.

“Or let him rely on My protection,
Let him make peace with Me,
Let him make peace with Me.”

In the days to come Jacob will take root,
Israel will blossom and sprout,
And they will fill the whole world with fruit.

Yes!

“Fruit of Jesse”

March 24, 2019

“Fruit of Jesse”

Blessings folk!!

Fruit.

Jesse would bear fruit.

Jesus is the fruit referenced in the following.

Look at the amazing detail that we learn of “The Fruit of Jesse”…

Isa 11:1-5

Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse,
And a branch from his roots will bear fruit.

The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him,
The spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The spirit of counsel and strength,
The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.

And He will delight in the fear of the LORD,
And He will not judge by what His eyes see,
Nor make a decision by what His ears hear;

But with righteousness He will judge the poor,
And decide with fairness for the afflicted of the earth;
And He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth,
And with the breath of His lips He will slay the wicked.

Also righteousness will be the belt about His loins,
And faithfulness the belt about His waist.

Reread.

Rejoice!

This is the Lord that lives within each True Believer.

“It Will Go Well…”

March 23, 2019

“It Will Go Well…”

Blessings folk!

The Lord repeatedly warned His people, and us, about the fruit of righteousness vs. the fruit of wickedness.

Hear some of the Word of the Lord through Isaiah…
Read what the Lord was going to do (and did do) to His people…
Note why…

Isa 3:1-12

For behold, the Lord GOD of hosts is going to remove from Jerusalem and Judah
Both supply and support, the whole supply of bread
And the whole supply of water;

The mighty man and the warrior,
The judge and the prophet,
The diviner and the elder,

The captain of fifty and the honorable man,
The counselor and the expert artisan,
And the skillful enchanter.

And I will make mere lads their princes,
And capricious children will rule over them,

And the people will be oppressed,
Each one by another, and each one by his neighbor;
The youth will storm against the elder
And the inferior against the honorable.

When a man lays hold of his brother in his father’s house, saying,
“You have a cloak, you shall be our ruler,
And these ruins will be under your charge,”

He will protest on that day, saying,
“I will not be your healer,
For in my house there is neither bread nor cloak;
You should not appoint me ruler of the people.”

For Jerusalem has stumbled and Judah has fallen,
Because their speech and their actions are against the LORD,
To rebel against His glorious presence.

The expression of their faces bears witness against them,
And they display their sin like Sodom;
They do not even conceal it.
Woe to them!
For they have brought evil on themselves.

Say to the righteous that it will go well with them,
For they will eat the fruit of their actions.

Woe to the wicked! It will go badly with him,
For what he deserves will be done to him.

O My people! Their oppressors are children,
And women rule over them.
O My people! Those who guide you lead you astray
And confuse the direction of your paths.

The Lord caused Jerusalem to stumble and Judah to fall.
Why?
Because their speech and actions were against the Lord.
They rebelled against His glorious Presence.

The world does the same today.
Sadly, most of those who say they are of “the church” do also.

Again, they rebel against His glorious Presence.

Therefore…
God removes sustenance.
God removes protection.
God allows the “children” to lead…(sound familiar? Think politically)
Note all the detail!

Woe to the wicked.
It will go badly for them.
They deserve what the Lord does.

But, rejoice in this Word!
It will go well for the righteous.
They will eat the fruit of their actions.

So, again…which fruit do you bear?
What actions?

Bear the fruit of the Lord.

“Fruit of Labor”

March 22, 2019

“Fruit of Labor”

Blessings folk!

Fruit.

Our lives produce fruit - good or bad.
We labor our entire lives for an outcome - fruit.

Heed the Word of the Preacher from Ecclesiastes…

Ecc 2:5
I made gardens and parks for myself and I planted in them all kinds of fruit trees;

 Ecc 2:18
Thus I hated all the fruit of my labor for which I had labored under the sun,
for I must leave it to the man who will come after me.

And who knows whether he will be a wise man or a fool?
Yet he will have control over all the fruit of my labor for which I have labored by acting wisely under the sun. This too is vanity.

 Ecc 2:20
Therefore I completely despaired of all the fruit of my labor
for which I had labored under the sun.

 Ecc 5:15
As he had come naked from his mother's womb, so will he return as he came. He will take nothing from the fruit of his labor that he can carry in his hand.

If that for which we labor is only what will be left behind…then we labor in vain.

If we labor for that which has eternal value, then we do well.

Labor for/in the fruit of the Spirit…

Gal 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

“Product Of Our Lips”

March 21, 2019

“Product Of Our Lips”

Blessings folk!

The Word speaks much about fruit.

Here is another one…steps on all our toes…

Pro 18:20
With the fruit of a man’s mouth his stomach will be satisfied;
He will be satisfied with the product of his lips.

Whew!

The question must be addressed.

“Am I satisfied with the fruit of my lips?”

Is your stomach satisfied with what has come from your mouth?

We know that the stomach will react.

Now, read the next verse…

Pro 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Whoa!

This is a principle that most Believers know is somewhere in the Word.
Here it is.
The tongue has power for death.
The tongue has power for life.

Remember what James said about the tongue…

Jas 1:26
If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is worthless.

 Jas 3:5
So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things.
See how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire!

 Jas 3:6
And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell.

 Jas 3:8
But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison.

What fruit is our tongue producing?

Are we speaking death?
Are we speaking life?

The only way to bridle the tongue is through the Holy Spirit.
The only way to tame the tongue is through the Holy Spirit.

Only true Believers have the Holy Spirit.

Walk in the Spirit.
Produce the fruit of life through the tongue.

“Fruit of a Man’s Mouth”

March 20, 2019

“Fruit of a Man’s Mouth”

Blessings folk!

Fruit…

Here is a convicting Word…

What comes out of our mouths?

Pro 13:1-3

A wise son accepts his father’s discipline,
But a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.

From the fruit of a man’s mouth he enjoys good,
But the desire of the treacherous is violence.

The one who guards his mouth preserves his life;
The one who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.

The righteous will have good fruit that comes from his mouth.
He will enjoy the good thereof.

The treacherous/wicked’s desire will bring forth violence.
Not good.

What is the righteous to do?
Guard the fruit of his mouth, thereby preserving his life.

Otherwise, we will be as the wicked, running with mouths wide open to ruin.

Accept this discipline of Father.
Listen to Him.

Be not as the scoffer who does not listen.

March 19, 2019

“Booty of Evil Men”

Blessings folk!

Quick Word…busy day. LOL
In examining “fruit” in the Word, we see a constant comparison between the righteous and wicked.

Hear…

Pro 12:12-14

The wicked man desires the booty of evil men,
But the root of the righteous yields fruit.

An evil man is ensnared by the transgression of his lips,
But the righteous will escape from trouble.

A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his words,
And the deeds of a man’s hands will return to him.

The wicked will desire/bear the fruit of evil.
They seek such booty.
They are ensnared by the transgressions of evil.

The righteous yields fruit deep from the root.
The righteous will escape trouble.
The righteous will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his words.
The righteous will have good fruit that returns to him.

Does this mean that everything will be “perfect” in the life of the righteous?
Of course not.
But it does mean our ultimate outcome will be good.

Be righteous!

Fruit.
Is there fruit better than gold?
Better than silver?

Pro 8:19

“My fruit is better than gold, even pure gold,
And my yield better than choicest silver.

Who/what is “My”?

Pro 8:12-21

“I, wisdom, dwell with prudence,
And I find knowledge and discretion.

“The fear of the LORD is to hate evil;
Pride and arrogance and the evil way
And the perverted mouth, I hate.

“Counsel is mine and sound wisdom;
I am understanding, power is mine.

“By me kings reign,
And rulers decree justice.

“By me princes rule, and nobles,
All who judge rightly.

“I love those who love me;
And those who diligently seek me will find me.

“Riches and honor are with me,
Enduring wealth and righteousness.

“My fruit is better than gold, even pure gold,
And my yield better than choicest silver.

“I walk in the way of righteousness,
In the midst of the paths of justice,

To endow those who love me with wealth,
That I may fill their treasuries.

“My/I” is wisdom.

Look at what wisdom does/provides/etc:

  • Dwells with prudence
  • Finds knowledge
  • Finds discretion
  • Expresses fear of the Lord
  • Hates…
    • Evil
    • Pride
    • Arrogance
    • Evil way
    • Perverted mouth
  • Counsel
  • Sound wisdom
  • Understanding
  • Power is His
  • Reign
  • Justice
  • Judge rightly
  • Loves those who seek Him
  • Riches and honor are with Him
  • Fruit better than gold/silver
  • Walks in the way of righteousness
  • Endows those who love Him with wealth
  • Fills their treasuries

What happens to those who…
  • Refuse the call of God
  • Neglect His counsel
  • Do not want His reproof
  • Hate knowledge
  • Choose not to fear the Lord
  • Do not accept His counsel
  • Spurn His reproof
  • Naive
  • Complacent
  • Fools
???

They will eat the fruit of their own way…

Pro 1:23-32

“Turn to my reproof,
Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you;
I will make my words known to you.

“Because I called and you refused,
I stretched out my hand and no one paid attention;

And you neglected all my counsel
And did not want my reproof;

I will also laugh at your calamity;
I will mock when your dread comes,

When your dread comes like a storm
And your calamity comes like a whirlwind,
When distress and anguish come upon you.

“Then they will call on me, but I will not answer;
They will seek me diligently but they will not find me,

Because they hated knowledge
And did not choose the fear of the LORD.

“They would not accept my counsel,
They spurned all my reproof.

“So they shall eat of the fruit of their own way
And be satiated with their own devices.

“For the waywardness of the naive will kill them,
And the complacency of fools will destroy them.

  • Have dread
  • Have anguish

  • Call on the Lord, He will not answer
  • Seek the Lord, He will not be found
  • Spurn the Lord
  • Be satiated with their own desires
  • Be killed, destroyed

But, the last verse…

Pro 1:33
“But he who listens to me shall live securely
And will be at ease from the dread of evil.”

Listen to the Lord.
Live securely in Him.
Be at ease from the dread of evil!

“Like A Fruitful Vine"

March 15, 2019

“Like A Fruitful Vine"

Blessings folk!

Ah, the fruit of the womb.

Read this Psalm.
Give close heed to what it says about fruit, etc.

Psa 128:1-6
A Song of Ascents.

How blessed is everyone who fears the LORD,
Who walks in His ways.

When you shall eat of the fruit of your hands,
You will be happy and it will be well with you.

Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine
Within your house,
Your children like olive plants
Around your table.

Behold, for thus shall the man be blessed
Who fears the LORD.

The LORD bless you from Zion,
And may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life.

Indeed, may you see your children’s children.
Peace be upon Israel!

It speaks of the blessed man…everyone.
The man who fears the Lord.
The man who walks in the way of the Lord.
(Yes, yes, yes…it means man/woman…don’t get politically correct on me..LOL )

Such a man will eat the fruit of his hands.
He will be happy.
It will be well with him.
His wife will be fruitful…like a fruitful vine within you house.
His children will be like olive plants around the table…a sign of prosperity, provision. Olives were used for many things!

Our families will be blessed if we fear the Lord and walk in His ways.
So will our cities/communities.

Then, a great blessing.
Children’s children.

What fruit are your pursuing?
What fruit are you producing?
What fruit will you leave?

The Lord bless you from Zion!

“Even In Our Sleep”

March 14, 2019

“Even In Our Sleep”

Blessings folk!

Let’s go back and re-read the Psalm from yesterday.

Give close attention to the first two verses….

Psa 127:1-5
A Song of Ascents, of Solomon.

Unless the LORD builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the LORD guards the city,
The watchman keeps awake in vain.

It is vain for you to rise up early,
To retire late,
To eat the bread of painful labors
For He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.

Behold, children are a gift of the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.

Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.

How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them;
They will not be ashamed
When they speak with their enemies in the gate.

All our labor is vanity unless the Lord is the one building.

We can work and work…
At projects…
At goals…
But unless it is of the Lord it is vanity.

The Lord alone builds “the house”.
The Lord along guards the city.

Then this.
The Lord gives to His beloved even in his sleep.

We work.
We stress.
We labor.
We try.
All the while, the Lord is saying “rest in Me”, “trust in Me”, “‘work’ in Me”.
He will give to us even as we sleep.

He is the Source.
He is the Provide.

Now, rest upon your night bed in expectation…

“Fruit of the Womb”

March 13, 2019

“Fruit of the Womb”

Blessings folk!

Fruit of the Lord.

Sometime it is the actual physical fruit of the land.
Sometime it is a spiritual outcome.
Sometime it is the following…one of the greatest fruit of all…

Psa 127:1-5
A Song of Ascents, of Solomon.

Unless the LORD builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the LORD guards the city,
The watchman keeps awake in vain.

It is vain for you to rise up early,
To retire late,
To eat the bread of painful labors;A
For He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.

Behold, children are a gift of the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.

Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.

How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them;
They will not be ashamed
When they speak with their enemies in the gate.

The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Children are a gift of the Lord

Children are like arrows in the hand of a warrior.
How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of children.
Full of the fruit of the Lord.

Such blessed men will not be ashamed.

Tragically, what do we as a nation do with the fruit of the womb?
What do we do with the blessing of the Lord?

“Fruit In Its Season”

March 11, 2019

“Fruit In Its Season”

Blessings folk!

Psalm 1.
A “classic”.

It speaks of a blessed man.
It speaks of the fruit of the blessed.
Fruit in season.

Note how/when the fruit comes.

Psa 1:1-6

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!

But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.

He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.

The wicked are not so,
But they are like chaff which the wind drives away.

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

For the LORD knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the wicked will perish.

The blessed man…

  • Who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
  • Who does not stand in the path of sinners
  • Who does not sit in the seat of scoffers

This blessed man…
  • Delights in the the law of the Lord
  • Meditates on His law day and night

This blessed man…
  • Is like a tree
    • Firmly planted by streams of water
    • Yields its fruit in its season
    • Does not wither
    • Prospers in whatever He does

Because he delights in the Lord.
Because he trust in the Lord to bring fruit.

May be bear the fruit of the Lord.

Fruit!

Lev 27:30

‘Thus all the tithe of the land, of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’S;
it is holy to the LORD.

The Lord instructed His people to give a “tithe=tenth” of all to Him.
(This does not apply to the Body of Christ today…another discussion…another time.)

A tenth of the seed of the land.
A tenth of the fruit of the tree.
It is the Lord’s.
It is holy to the Lord.

“If You Do Not Obey Me…”

March 9, 2019

“If You Do Not Obey Me…”

Blessings folk!

Here is the basic, foundational truth about fruit.

God brings fruit forth.

Here is an example of the Lord restricting fruit due to obedience.

Lev 26:14-20

‘But if you do not obey Me and do not carry out all these commandments,

if, instead, you reject My statutes, and if your soul abhors My ordinances so as not to carry out all My commandments, and so break My covenant,

I, in turn, will do this to you: I will appoint over you a sudden terror, consumption and fever that will waste away the eyes and cause the soul to pine away;
also, you will sow your seed uselessly, for your enemies will eat it up.

‘I will set My face against you so that you will be struck down before your enemies;
and those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee when no one is pursuing you.

‘If also after these things you do not obey Me,
then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.

‘I will also break down your pride of power;
I will also make your sky like iron and your earth like bronze.

‘Your strength will be spent uselessly,
for your land will not yield its produce and the trees of the land will not yield their fruit.

Whew!
A tough Word.

If they did not…

  • Obey God
  • Carry out all His commandments

If they…
  • Rejected His statutes
  • Abhored His ordinances in their souls
  • Did not carry out all His commandments
  • Broke His covenant

Then, God would…
  • Appoint a sudden terror over them
  • Appoint consumption
  • Appoint fever
  • Cause the seed sown to be useless
  • Cause the enemy to eat their resources
  • Set His face against them
  • Allow those who hate them to rule over them
  • Cause them to flee when no one is pursuing…fear!

Then, if after all these things they refuse to obey…God will punish them seven times more for their sins…
He will break down their pride of power.
He will make their sky like iron.
He will make their earth like bronze.
Drought/famine.
Their strength would be spent uselessly.
The land would not yield produce.
Trees will not bear fruit.

All because of stubborn disobedience.

Are we as Believers required to adhere to this Law?

Yes, but in a different way.

Jesus came to fulfill the Law, not to do away with it.

Remember this.

We fulfill the Law in/through the Lord Jesus.
Believing in Him.
Faith in Him.
Abiding in Him.
Trusting in Him.
Producing fruit in/through Him.

“Increased Yield”

March 8, 2019

“Increased Yield”

Blessings folk!

As might be expected, the word “fruit” is used through Scripture to refer to the edible product of plant and trees.

Read the following excerpts.
Note what they say about “fruit”.

Exo 10:15
For they covered the surface of the whole land, so that the land was darkened;
and they ate every plant of the land and all the fruit of the trees that the hail had left.
Thus nothing green was left on tree or plant of the field through all the land of Egypt.

After the plague of locust no fruit remained.

 Exo 23:16
“Also you shall observe the Feast of the Harvest of the first fruits of your labors from what you sow in the field; also the Feast of the Ingathering at the end of the year when you gather in the fruit of your labors from the field.

The fruit of their labor was to be gathered…Feast of Harvest, Feast of Ingathering.

 Lev 19:10
‘Nor shall you glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather the fallen fruit of your vineyard;
you shall leave them for the needy and for the stranger. I am the LORD your God.

The people of the Lord were not to be greedy with their fruit.
They were not to “glean” their vineyard…collect every last bit of fruit.
They were to let remain “the corners” and the “fallen fruit” for the needy…for the stranger.
They were used by the Lord as provision.
This also helped to combat a selfish spirit within the people.

 Lev 19:23-25
‘When you enter the land and plant all kinds of trees for food, then you shall count their fruit as forbidden. Three years it shall be forbidden to you; it shall not be eaten.

‘But in the fourth year all its fruit shall be holy, an offering of praise to the LORD.

‘In the fifth year you are to eat of its fruit, that its yield may increase for you;
I am the LORD your God.’

The Lord provided good horticulture techniques for His people.

Be patient as the fruit trees develop.
Short term patience bring long term growth and production.

Allow the fruit/tree to mature.
Offer the first offering to the Lord.
Then, receive the increase it gives you.

Good principles for us today.
In fruit.
Natural and spiritual.

“God Withheld the Fruit…”

March 7, 2019

“God Withheld the Fruit…”

Blessings folk!

We are looking at what Scripture says about “fruit”.

We have seen the fruit in the garden of Eden.
That did not end well…though it will eventually!

Now, let us jump into a family fight…

Gen 30:1-6

Now when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, she became jealous of her sister;
and she said to Jacob, “Give me children, or else I die.”

Then Jacob’s anger burned against Rachel, and he said,
“Am I in the place of God, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?”

She said, “Here is my maid Bilhah, go in to her that she may bear on my knees,
that through her I too may have children.”

So she gave him her maid Bilhah as a wife, and Jacob went in to her.

Bilhah conceived and bore Jacob a son.

Then Rachel said,
“God has vindicated me, and has indeed heard my voice and has given me a son.”
Therefore she named him Dan.

Rachel had no children.
Leah, her sister, did.
Jacob was the husband of both.
Well, that could not have been comfortable.
We see that it was not.

Rachel literally cried out to her husband “give me children, or else I die”.

The physical problem was not with Jacob the husband.
He had proved that by children with Leah

Rachel knew that she was the “problem”.
She was frustrated.
She was mad.

Jacob turned angry.
His anger burned against Rachel, the wife he loved.
He questioned, “am I in the place of God?”
He declared it was God that had withheld the fruit of the womb.

Whoa!

The Word shows several women in the lineage of Jesus that were barren…lacked fruit.
Until the Lord moved.

Rachel offered a solution…a family solution used before by Abrah/Sarai.
Use the hand maiden to provide a child.

Jacob agreed.

Dan was born.

Too often we do not see the fruit of God and we develop strategies to bring it forth.
We should trust the Lord.
We should seek the Lord.
We should rest in the Lord.
We should await upon the Lord.

Fruit - offspring/seed of a tree/plant.
Fruit - offspring/seed of an animal/human.

Seek the fruit of the Lord…

“Cain’s Fruit”

March 6, 2019

“Cain’s Fruit”

Blessings folk!

We are looking at the word “fruit” in the Scripture.

Or course, it is used in varied ways.
Context determines meaning.

Read…

Gen 4:1-5

Now the man had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain,
and she said, “I have gotten a man child with the help of the LORD.”

Again, she gave birth to his brother Abel.
And Abel was a keeper of flocks,
but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

So it came about in the course of time that Cain
brought an offering to the LORD of the fruit of the ground.

Abel, on his part also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of their fat portions.
And the LORD had regard for Abel and for his offering;

but for Cain and for his offering He had no regard.
So Cain became very angry and his countenance fell.

Though unstated as such, Adam and Eve produced fruit - Cain, a man child from the Lord.
They also had Abel.

Abel kept flocks.
Cain tilled the ground.

Nothing wrong with either.
Both are important and needed.

So, what is the issue?

Nothing…until this.

After a period of time, Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord.
Again, nothing wrong with this.
Except, apparently the Lord had requested/instructed something else.

Cain brought the fruit of the ground.
Abel brought the firstlings of his flocks and their fat portions.

The Lord received/had regard for Abel’s offering of the flock.
The Lord did not receive/have regard for Cain’s offering.

Cain was offering the fruit of the labor of his hands and skills rather than what God requested.

It is said “but Cain was a tiller of the soil…”.
Yes.
He could have traded his goods for that which the Lord required.

He did not.

He offered what he desired.

The error of Cain?
Seeking to approach God in his own way rather than what the Lord instructed.

Too many do the same today.

There is only One Way to approach the Lord and be in “right relation” with Him.
One Way.
One Truth.
One Light.
One Lord.
Jesus.

All else is the way of Cain…and as with Cain, it will lead to anger, a fallen countenance and ultimately to death.

“Lust of Flesh/Eyes”

March 5, 2019

“Lust of Flesh/Eyes”

Blessings folk!

Yesterday we saw what Eve did…

Gen 3:6
When the woman saw that the tree was good for food,
and that it was a delight to the eyes,
and that the tree was desirable to make one wise,
she took from its fruit and ate;
and she gave also to her husband with her,
and he ate.

She saw that the tree was good for food.
She saw that it was a delight to the eyes.
She saw that the fruit of the tree was desirable to make one wise.
She took from the fruit and ate.
She gave to her husband.
He ate.

She was deceived.
Adam sinned.
He knew what he was doing.

1 Ti 2:14
And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.

Rom 5:12
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned—

This is a pattern of sin today.

Look at what the Lord says through John…

1 Jo 2:15-17

Do not love the world nor the things in the world.
If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

For all that is in the world,
the lust of the flesh
and the lust of the eyes
and the boastful pride of life,
is not from the Father,
but is from the world.

The world is passing away, and also its lusts;
but the one who does the will of God lives forever.

See the similarity?
The lust of the flesh…tree was good for food.
The lust of the eyes…the tree was a delight to the eyes.
The boastful pride of life…the tree was desirable to make one wise.

The enemy uses the same pattern today.
Such is not from Father.
It is of the world.

The world is passing away.
The lusts of the world also.

Do not love the world.
Do not love the things of the world.
If you do so, then Father is not in you.
You are not in correct relationship with Father.
You are not saved.

The one who does the will of the Lord…rejects the temptations of the world…will live forever.

"Fruit, Sin"

March 4, 2019

“Fruit, Sin”

Blessings folk!

The man and the woman ate forbidden fruit.

Note what motivated the woman - Eve.

Remember this.
Eve was deceived.
Adam sinned.

Gen 3:6
When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.

1Ti 2:14
And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.

Rom 5:12
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned—

The woman:

  • Saw that the tree was good for food
  • Saw that the fruit of the tree was a delight to the eyes
  • Saw that the fruit of the tree was desirable to make one wise
  • Took from the fruit
  • Ate
  • Gave to husband

This is the pattern of sin.
Be not deceived.

“Eat Nor Touch”

March 3, 2019

“Eat Nor Touch”

Blessings folk!

There was one fruit that man was not allowed to eat.

Gen 2:16-17

The LORD God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely;

but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat,
or in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.”

Adam received this command before Eve was created.

Afterward…

Gen 3:1-3

Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman,
“Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?”

The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat;

but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said,
‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.’”

They were not to eat from the tree.
(Eve added her own addendum…”or touch it”…God did not say that. Perhaps Adam added it.)

Regardless.
They broke the one rule that God gave them.

Why?
Not “falling”.
Rebellion.

It sounds innocuous…eating the fruit from a tree.

Yet, it brought sin.
It brought death.

Sin not.

“Fruit”

March 2, 2019

“Fruit”

Blessings folk!

Fruit!

Everything that lives produces fruit.
Either by-product or reproduction.

The Word speaks of “fruit”, more than what might be thought.

Let us look at it.

The first “fruit” that we see in the Word is in Genesis - of course.

It is the fruit of plants.

Note what it is.
Note its purpose.

Gen 1:11-12

Then God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them”; and it was so.

The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was good.

 Gen 1:29

Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you;

Plants and trees yielded seed and fruit by the Word of the Lord - “then God said…”

The fruit is “after their kind”.

The fruit produced seed for reproduction.

The fruit of the trees yielding seed was for food.

Again, they all produce “after their kind”.

One form does not produce another form.

This is important to understand.

Jas 3:11-12

Does a fountain send out from the same opening both fresh and bitter water?

Can a fig tree, my brethren, produce olives, or a vine produce figs?
Nor can salt water produce fresh.

What fruit do we produce?

“Unity”

March 1, 2019

“Unity”

Blessings folk!

Ah…today is the beginning of meteorological spring.

Seasons are changing.

Things are are changing in the Body of Christ.

More folk are listening to the Spirit.

He is directing.
He is convicting.
He is empowering.

We are responding.
Together.
In unity.

Unity is a buzz-phrase of late.

Read what the Word has to say about “unity”.

Eph 4:1-3

Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord,
implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called,

with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love,

being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

The “organizational church” (false church of man) goes to extremes to create and maintain “unity”.
Compromise is the standard.
“Unity” is based upon “doing things the way I want”.

Such is not so with the Lord.

True believers, the Organism of the Body of Christ, are by definition “unified”.
We do not “create” unity.
We are unified because we are One in the Lord.

We are not told to “seek/create” unity.
We are told to preserve/maintain that which is there.
We are told to be diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Among true believers there is unity.
Among true believers there is the bond of peace.
Among true believers there is the power to walk in humility, gentleness, patience, tolerance/forbearance for one another in love.

Such is not so with the religionists of the organizations of man.
They move in the flesh.
They manifest the deeds of the flesh rather than the fruit of the Spirit - because they have not the Spirit.

Can dark be unified with light?
Can evil be unified with good?

Be Light.
Reject the way of the dark.

Isa 5:20

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;
Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

Luk 11:36
“If therefore your whole body is full of light, with no dark part in it,
it will be wholly illumined, as when the lamp illumines you with its rays.”
